If you are in need of dental services, but the thought of a root canal, extraction, or filling provokes anxiety, we have options for anesthesia and sedation that can make the procedure completely painless and worry-free.

Patients Who Need Sedation Dentistry:

  • Those who suffer from extreme dental anxiety
  • People with very sensitive teeth
  • Individuals who need extensive dental surgery performed
  • People who are resistant to other types anesthetic

These are all valid reasons to fear going to the dentist, but choosing a dentist who can address those fears ensures a lifetime of excellent oral health. We take every precaution to make sure that our patients are comfortable with the procedures we perform, and have a wide variety of sedative options on-hand for the purpose.

Two Degrees of Dental Sedation in Plano, Texas

When it comes to dental sedation, two broad categories exist. A consultation with one of our sedation experts will determine which one is best-suited for the procedure you plan on undergoing.

Deep Sedation

Numbs pain, eliminates anxiety, and reduces the patient’s level of consciousness while still allowing them to respond to basic commands.

General Anesthesia

Produces a total loss of consciousness for the duration of the dental procedure. This is recommended for extensive, invasive procedures.

How Safe is Sedation Dentistry?

Many people who get anxious about visiting the dentist are also anxious about sedation dentistry. Dr. Dashty uses the highest level of precaution to ensure your safety and comfort.

While you are under general anesthesia, your anesthesiologist monitors multiple parameters for signs of consciousness. If your eye movement or body temperature indicates that the anesthesia is beginning to wear off, you immediately receive an additional dose, making sure that you remain safely unconscious for the entire procedure.

At Dossett Dental, we use new, regularly calibrated monitoring equipment to be certain that patients under sedation remain so with absolute certainty.
